Join us on June 21st as part of the RSA Rawthmells Friday Conversations to launch Generation Share and celebrate Global Sharing Week.
When we hear the words ‘Sharing Economy’, many of us think of Airbnb or Uber, what most of us don’t know is that the Sharing Economy is actually creating immense social impact. In this special Friday Conversations session to celebrate Global Sharing Week, speaker, author, change-maker and global Sharing Economy expert Benita Matofska FRSA will launch her book Generation Share, bringing awe-inspiring stories of the change-makers who are transforming lives. Generation Share is printed sustainably from waste materials, each copy purchased educates a slum-based girl in India and plants a tree, sharing the love even further. A collaboration with the photographer of purpose, Sophie Sheinwald, Generation Share brings to life the phenomenon causing the most significant shift in society since the Industrial Revolution.
At 12 pm, speaker and author Benita Matofska will tell the story of Global Sharing Week, offering a glimpse into what’s happening around the globe, before introducing us to the magical world of Generation Share. You’ll hear from change-maker Dr Natalie Shenker, who started Hearts Milk Bank, the UK’s first human milk bank. She’ll reveal how the sharing of breast milk is impacting the lives of sick and premature babies and aiding all important breast cancer research.
At 1 pm, speaker and author, Benita Matofska will share some international stories from Generation Share, from the girl who is transforming the lives of slum-based girls in India to the doctor in Greece who has set up a healthcare network for those who can’t afford to see a doctor. Finally, Benita will be joined by Alex Stephany, founder of Beam the world’s first crowdfunding platform that raises funds for employment training for homeless people, further demonstrating the power of Sharing to change the world.
At 2 pm, the photographer with purpose and co-creator of Generation Share, Sophie Sheinwald will offer creative insight into the challenges of capturing the spirit of sharing and change-making on camera. Sophie will be joined by Saasha Celestial-One, founder of food sharing app Olio who is kick-starting a food sharing revolution. Saasha will share insights into how Olio is creating a secondary market for waste food and in doing so is helping to end world hunger.
