The first Pink Dot was organised in 2009, just over a decade ago. Some progress has been made to cultivate a more inclusive society for the LGBT community but laws such as Penal Code Section 377A still stand to this day.
In this Meetup, we aim to explore the arguments made in favour and against LGBT rights in Singapore. We shall also analyse how recent global developments such as Li Huanwu's marriage (Lee Kuan Yew's grandson) and Taiwan's legalisation of gay marriage would impact LGBT advocacy locally.
Whether you are straight or from LGBT community, or against or in favour of gay marriage, your views matter so sign up now for our Pink Dot Special Meetup!
[Who should attend?]
Everyone is welcome to attend this dialogue as your views matter in shaping the trajectory of discourse in Singapore. If you are a member of the LGBT community or involved in local causes, this event is most ideal to you in uncovering new perspectives and meeting with like-minded Singaporeans.
[Who are we?]
Founded earlier this year, The Philosophy of Life is a group invested in making philosophy practical, simple and fun for all Singaporeans to learn. Our area of expertise and interest is Objectivism, which emphasises reason, rational self-interest and cultivating a society based on the principle of free and fair exchange.
We are regularly participating and hosting dialogue sessions on current affairs to inspire Singaporeans to think critically about them, just like what philosophers would do.
