The idea is simple: from June 16 to 21, 5 London restaurants will open their kitchens to 5 refugee chefs, jointly creating innovative menus featuring the cuisine of the guest chef. During one or more services, dishes from Egypt, Nigeria, Syria or Uzbekistan will be served at participating restaurants, as a complete pop-up menu or in dishes co-created with the host chefs.
Each event will allow Londoners to discover unique flavors, vibrant places to eat and engaged chefs. Being a citizens’ initiative, the Refugee Food Festival is organized by local citizens who volunteer to develop the project in their own cities: in London, Mathilde Carraro, Alice Gaillard, and Alice Thierry de Ville d’Avray are organizing the event.
They will contribute to supporting cooks after the festival, in collaboration with organizations like Appear Here, Help Refugees, The Refugee Council and Tern, whose work already helped make the Refugee Food Festival - London a reality. French association Food Sweet Food, founder of the project, will also continue to support them in this endeavor.
